High Ropes Area
The climbing tower and high ropes course have our campers flying high each summer! Run by specialty trained staff this area offers a zip-line, climbing tower, flying squirrel, pamper pole and circuit high ropes course for campers to enjoy!
Campers who love sports will find our large athletic field just to their liking! This is a morning elective activity including kickball, soccer, pickle ball, volleyball and many more fun games. Most afternoons a cabin group will be recreating here as well. In the evening this is the perfect location for an all camp capture the flag game!
YMCA Camp Gorham is excited to announce that we will be transforming our once 10,000 square foot maintenance building into a wonderful program building. Planning will take place in 2018 with much excitement! Tune in for more information!
Camp Gorham has an archery range and field range. Campers learn basic safety and then shooting skills in this fun morning elective activity! While waiting for their turn rowdy games of Uno and other card games fill the time. This popular area also include a target sports area where campers can try sling shots or darts!
Campers have the opportunity to visit the store once a week to purchase sweatshirts, t-shirts, water bottles, baseball shirts and many other fun Camp Gorham items. Parents set up an account for their child during registration. The camp store also offers ice cream for a cool treat in the summer heat!
Waterfront Boating Arena
Camp Gorham offers a wide variety of boating activities! Campers may choose from paddle boarding, kayaking, canoeing, or sailing in sunfish sailboats. All electives are taught by trained staff with lifeguards present at each activity. Camp also offers water ski lessons taught by certified boat operators with experience teaching water skiing. Camper love Darts Lake which is 400 acres of fun in the sun!
Waterfront Swim Arena
Our waterfront is a section of pristine Darts Lake. Campers enjoy early morning swimming as well as throughout the day. Camp Gorham life guards are certified and attend weekly in-service trainings to keep skills sharp. Each camper completes a swim check at the beginning of their session to determine their swim abilities. Our spin wheel, challenge course and rope swing (new in 2018!) are highlights of this area!
Our Frontier Girls (ages 13 – 16) live lakeside in our premiere cabins. Each cabin has a bathroom and showering facilities are close by located behind our dining hall. The village has a Village Head who lives right in one of the cabin ensuring fun and safety for all.
Our Big Moose boys (ages 9 – 12) and our Lumberjack guys (ages 13-15) stay in lakeside cabins with bathroom facilities in each cabin. A shower house is located nearby. Each village has an experienced Village Head who lives in one of the cabins overseeing all the fun!
Wilderness Lakes Lodge
Our Wilderness Lakes lodge houses our youngest campers (ages 7 – 10) Each lodge room has a full bathroom with showers. The building also has a large center room for village evening activities and a laundry facility. Staff specially trained for this age group live in the lodge rooms with campers including a lodge senior counselor. Tons of fun is had by all!
High Peaks Cabin
Our High Peaks Village welcomes female campers ages 7 – 12 each summer in five cabins sleeping ten girls each. Two staff live in each cabin and our Village Head lives there too ensuring everyone is having a great time! Each cabin has a full bathroom including showering facilities.
Calling all 13- 16 year old’s to join us for a wide variety of summer programs! This premier program teaches leadership skills while camper enjoy all camp has to offer. Teen Adirondack Guides (ages 13- 15) two week program includes a three day excursion on camp property. Xtreme Teen Adirondack Guides two week program includes a four day off site trip of canoeing and high ropes. Our CIT program teaches 16 year old skills they need to be on staff.
Camp provides an RN for each session who is available night and day for camper needs. The health lodge has a treatment area, rest area and bathroom facilities. The nursing staff stays in close contact with parents if their child visits.
Before lunch and dinner each day all of Camp Gorham comes together for game zone! Campers and staff play pick up basketball, gaga, carpetball and enjoy our jumping pillow! This is a great social time at camp for all to enjoy for a half hour before each meal!
As a highlight of Camp Gorham’s fun our 30 foot by 600 foot jumping pillow provides many moments of fun! Campers may bounce before lunch and dinner. Our jumping pillow also hosts a popular morning elective filled with many bouncy games!
YMCA Camp Gorham offers wonderful family style meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Campers sit with friends from their village groups and staff enjoying hearty food. Breakfast offers a full hot/cold cereal bar with fresh fruit and yogurt. At lunch and dinner at full salad bar offers many choices as well as PB&J is available. Each evening campers have an snack before bed. Food for special diets is available.
Chapel and Campfire
YMCA Camp Gorham’s rich traditions include opening and closing campfire at our beautiful amphitheater overlooking Darts Lake. Campers and staff will enjoy many laughs, great songs and make memories to last a lifetime as all perform skits and songs for the entire camp to enjoy!
YMCA Camp Gorham offers a horse lesson and trail ride program certified by the American Horsemanship Association for ages 10 – 16 (or those campers entering the 5th grade and above) Campers learn riding and barn skills through fun games such as horse jeopardy and obstacle courses.
The YMCA Camp Gorham barn is home to 12 horses each summer. A large majority return from their home in Vermont, they arrive to camp four weeks prior to the start of the season. Staff work with the horses each day preparing them to children to ride who have a variety of skills levels. Our horses are lovable and a huge part of the camp experience! Camp Gorham’s riding program is accredited by the American Horsemanship Association.
Colosseum is our gathering place after breakfast and dinner where we share, sing and cheer each day!
